About me
Rachel Strange
I came quite late to training as a counsellor but it's something I had wanted to do for a very long time! I'm a believer in things happening in life at the right time, hence why I named my practice Kairos Counselling.
In a nutshell, Kairos has a special meaning to me and it is an Ancient Greek term referring to time - relating to something being the right time or opportune moment to do or say something. It differs from Chronos which we understand as 'clock time'.

I've always worked directly with people in a number of diverse pastoral roles and becoming a counsellor felt like a natural progression to continue my own growth and development. I'm pleased to be able to offer the skills I've built on to help others work through the tough stuff that life can throw at us all.

In my personal life experience, I've gone through my own challenges and I've been through the process of being in therapy. Of course my journey will be different from yours, but I do appreciate how counselling can allow us to meet ourselves and discover what's behind the issues we feel compelled to work with.
This kind of work unfolds and evolves at its own pace and depth whilst being held safely within the therapeutic relationship with the counsellor. Now as a counsellor myself, my aim is to provide you with a safely held space where you can show up as you are without being judged and to be met deeply by me with warmth, compassion and empathy.

In my free time, I like being outdoors on the water or wandering the countryside. One day I'd love to own a Whippet or two to accompany me on my adventures! Watch this space...

I'm also a musician and I enjoy playing with different bands and groups. I find music is helpful for letting go of the daily stresses and having some fun. I think music is a potent and powerful healer!
